Connect your agent

Run Kata from Claude Code, Cursor or any AI that supports MCP. Your AI gets the same 74 tools as the built-in agent.

1. Get your key

Open Home in the app, click Connect your agent and copy the setup prompt. It holds your key and the server URL. Keys start with kata_. You can make a new key there; the old one stops working at once.

Treat the key like a password. Anyone with it can run every tool, including sending.

2. Add the server

In Claude Code, run:

Add Kata to Claude Code
claude mcp add --transport http kata \
  https://api.katasend.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer <your key>"

In any other MCP client, add the URL https://api.katasend.com/mcp with the header Authorization: Bearer <your key>.

Then ask"Launch a campaign for my bookkeeping offer to US agency owners." To see where things stand first, ask it to call the status tool.

For developers Settings, protocol details and a curl test
SettingValue
URLhttps://api.katasend.com/mcp
TransportHTTP (Streamable HTTP)
HeaderAuthorization: Bearer <your key>
Transport
MCP Streamable HTTP, stateless, JSON responses only (no SSE stream, no session id).
Requests
POST one JSON-RPC 2.0 message per request.
Methods
initialize, ping, tools/list, tools/call
Results
result.content[0].text holds the JSON as text (for every MCP client); result.structuredContent holds the same object, already parsed. Errors: result.isError = true and the message in content[0].text.
Try it with curl
curl -s https://api.katasend.com/mcp \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $KATA_KEY" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/call","params":{"name":"status","arguments":{}}}'

3. Follow the usual order

The server tells your AI this order when it connects:

  1. Save company info, once. set_company_brief
  2. Connect a domain and its mailboxes. connect_domain, then check_domains
  3. Create a campaign and write its angles. create_campaign, then generate_angles
  4. Make a lead list and import leads. create_list, then import_leads with list_id
  5. Connect the list to the campaign. connect_list
  6. Activate, with your approval. set_campaign_status active

All tools, with their parameters: MCP tools reference.
